Why has the Syrian Kobani escaped from ISIL? (my review rom the event)

The author analyzes the problem of covering by mass media the military events of September-October 2014 in the area of Kobani located on the Syrian-Turkish border, shows the ideological significance of the city for the Kurdish population. The article considers the peculiarities of interaction between the Iraqi and Syrian Kurdistan and Turkey's position in this matter. The author presents the information obtained by him personally and directly from the event in the process of his journalistic activities. According to a source of the Fox News TV channel, «Seizing Kobani can be an important victory for the ISIL; in this case there will be a serious concern that the Sunni military group is advancing ahead despite the air strikes made by the coalition,» said Fox News. Analyzing the impact of information processes on the course of the modern armed conflict on the example of the events in Kobani, we can conclude that political, ideological and geopolitical views are formed among a large part of society solely on the basis of telecommunication. Mass media in modern society play not only an auxiliary role, as in the past, but become a powerful independent factor that can make a strong impact on the historical destiny of the people.
