The paper examines the biography of the Soviet statesman Nikolai Fedorovich Tatarchuk (1918-1991) with an emphasis on his activities in the Krasnoyarsk Region, to which he devoted more than 30 years of his life. Memoirs of colleagues and colleagues ofN.F. Tatarchuk are used as sources, as well as materials from his personal fund, stored in the State Archive of the Krasnoyarsk Region (GAKK). The given historiographic review shows the obvious inadequacy of the scientific study of this issue. N.F. Tatarchuk was one of the most active leaders of the Krasnoyarsk Region in the 1960s-1980s and made a great contribution to its socioeconomic and cultural development. Considerable attention in the study is paid to the personal qualities of Nikolai Fedorovich, which were noted by many of those who had to work with him, as well as his outstanding organizational skills. According to the author of the paper, the crowning achievement of his political career was his work as chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Executive Committee of the Soviets of Working People's Deputies (1964-1983). The period of his active state activity included such significant events in the history of the USSR as the Khrushchev reforms, Brezhnev's "stagnation" and the beginning of Gorbachev's perestroika. For his fruitful activity, N.F. Tatarchuk was awarded a number of state awards. At present, the Siberian community of historians faces the important task of writing a complete and objective generalizing work on the history of the Krasnoyarsk Region in the late Soviet period, when the region experienced a period of rapid development known as the “Krasnoyarsk Decades”. The study is a kind of perpetuation of the memory of N.F. Tatarchuk as one of the brightest figures in the recent history of the Krasnoyarsk Region.
