The protected territory of the Botanic Garden is unique in the respect of its soils: here are represented all the kinds typical for the Southern Karelia, and the spectrum od soil formations is wide enough. 10 kinds of soils are described for this territory. Mesomorphic soils occupy the most part of the territory, hydromorphic ones are limited dy small parts along the gullies' edges. The fertility of soils is rather high. Ph-values of organogenous horizons vary from 3-4 to 6. The content of metabolic cations is rather high, mainly of the calcium. The descriptions of open-casts, a soil map of the territory and the results of chemical analysis are presented.
