Initiating and adopting the health care reform in the USA in 2009-2010

The study discusses the process of initiating and adopting the health care reform, i.e. the key point of the election program of the 44th US President Barack Obama. The president and his team were active in promoting the reform, faced with stubborn resistance from both Republicans and several members of the Democratic Party. However, despite all the challenges, the presidential administration managed to adopt a health care reform with a minimum of votes. The victory of Barack Obama and his supporters was provided by the circumstances that the drafting of the bill was open to the public, various groups of interests discussed the issue. Nevertheless, the president’s victory was incomplete: while discussing the issue, the supporters of the reform were forced to abandon a number of points that caused the strong dissatisfaction with the opponents of the bill.
