Wedding preparation of Avars: correlation of traditional and modern features

The paper discusses some problems related to the preservation and development of traditional wedding culture of Avars today. The wedding rites of Avars have undergone certain changes associated with the transformation of the social structure, urbanization and globalization processes. Besides the dramatic reduction of the ceremonial part of the wedding, the changes have affected the wedding preparation, invitations and entertaining of guests, arrangement of a household of a newly married couple, as well as the choice of a place for celebration.
