Approaches to the study of the regularities of spatial variability of vegetation and vegetation mapping for Eastern European territory were described. The main stages of cartographic modeling feature which is use of field research to obtain series medium-scale regional maps were outlines. The results of vegetation organization assessment at the regional level are the key to display the structure of vegetation and establishment of small-scale maps at subkontinental level. Discusses of the basic principles of vegetation classification will provide effective evaluation of the boreal forests status, the compatibility of materials and using information at different geographical scales as well as the maintaining in cartographic modeling.
