Approaches to the assessment of the total economic potential of the national economy

The article discusses the essence of the concept of aggregate economic potential of the national economy, and also approaches to its assessment. The differences between the concepts of “economic potential” and “total economic potential”, the scope of their application. The aggregate economic potential of the national economy consists of several components: the natural resource potential, human resource, scientific and technical potential, material and production, and institutional potential. The volume of the country’s aggregate economic potential characterizes the country’s place in the international division of labor and the degree of a country’s influence on global processes. The article notes that the most significant component of the aggregate economic potential is human resources. Qualification of labor directly determines the effectiveness of economic relations, the growth rate of the national economy. The total economic potential is analyzed from two positions: from the position of the resources available in the national economy that can be used; from the position of the ability to carry out specific economic activities for the production of goods using the resources available in the national economy...
