Approaches to the interpretation of the nature of the subject of local self-government

The article presents a review of theoretical positions explaining the nature of the subject of local self-government. The authors show the character of scientific debate concerning the interpretation of such categories as "local community", "territorial community", "municipal society", "municipality", etc. The authors focus on the analysis of the concept of "local community". This concept is of particular importance in the scientific discourse about the nature of local self-government.
