The author shows the daily feat of residents and employees of the city police during the Great Patriotic War and the blockade of Leningrad. The war conditions, and even more so the blockade of the city, which lasted for 872 days, put the townspeople and the police officers in unbearable living conditions, which only courageous and steadfast people could overcome. Despite hunger, cold, disease, bombing and artillery shelling, the city lived and, overcoming all the needs and hardships of the blockade, produced weapons not only for its fronts, but also for the whole country. Police officers did not differ from the townspeople in terms of supplies, but during 1943 they managed to reduce the surge in crime and ensure the protection of public safety of the front city.
