The number of beef cattle in farms of all categories in the context of federal districts on the territory of Russia

In the Russian Federation, according to the All-Russian Agricultural Census of 2016, farms of all categories contained 3.6 million head of livestock for beef production, including 1,412 thousand head of cows, 986 thousand heads of young animals (except for calves under 1 year) and 909 thousand calves (up to 1 year old). According to the 2006 census, 852 thousand heads of beef cattle were kept on the territory of the country: 477 thousand heads in agricultural organizations, 119 thousand heads in peasant farms and 10.0 thousand heads of individual entrepreneurs and 246 thousand heads in households. Agricultural organizations accounted for 41.8% of beef cattle in Russia, peasant (farmer) households - 27.6%, individual entrepreneurs - 2.5%, households - 28.1%. In the farms of the population of the Southern Federal District, the North Caucasus and Siberian there were 889.7 thousand heads of cattle for beef production, or 87.6%.
