Cremated burials of the scythian period in the Middle Don region

The basic funerary rite in most Scythian kurgan burials in the MiddleDon region includes both burials in pits of various constructions and in-ground burials.This study focuses on ten Scythian graves discovered in four kurgan cemeteriesof the Middle Don region where the deceased were burned both outside the grave andinside the burial construction. The research found no uniformity in funerary traditionsassociated with the cremation rite. This fact suggests that this burial rite practiced in theDon region in the 5th - 4th centuries BC was only a legacy of the earlier rite that hademerged in the Forest-Steppe Dnieper Right Bank.
