The article analyzes the evolution of US foreign policy, the reasons for the abandonment of neutrality and the entry of the United States into the First World War on the side of the Entente countries. At the beginning of the conflict, Washington With enormous economic potential, the United States adhered to a policy of neutrality. Since the summer of 1915, American foreign policy strategy has changed. From diplomacy of mediation between Germany and England, the White House moved on to support the Entente countries. In connection with the economic conjuncture that developed during the World War, military ambitions and the changing situation in Europe, the United States aimed at strengthening its international influence.
