Belt in the system of traditional culture of Ukrainians and Byelorussians in Primorye at the end of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth century

The article is devoted to belt as a part of traditional culture of Ukrainian and Byelorussian settlers in Primorye in the end of the XIX th - the beginning of the XX th century. The author analyses utilitarian and ritual, ethic and aesthetic functions of traditional belts as well as different materials and techniques that were used to produce them. Examining the belt collection of the Arseniev State Museum along with wedding and calendar songs, recorded in Primorye, the author presents the regional aspect through the prism of the maternal fund and shows belt as a cultural phenomenon and a sample of the regional arts and crafts.
