The article discusses some of the poetics of the unusual in the light of the contemporary theory of argumentation, presented by the pragma-dialectic concept of the Amsterdam school. It is obvious, that the most important part of any argumentative theory is detection and criticism of errors made in the consequence of argumentation both in common speech and in various kinds of written discourses. A fundamental review of such errors was carried out by Frans van Yeaemeren. These errors are most often unconscious and come to light only with special studies. At the same time, texts with errors of argumentation deliberately embedded in the system are of particular interest, thus determining the poetics of the unusual. The article analyzes the “Alice in Wonderland” and “Alice in the Looking Glass” by L. Carroll, “Winnie the Pooh and all-all-all” by A. Milne, as well as poetic techniques of one of the representatives of OBERIU group A. Vvedensky. In the course of the review, we found that such argumentative errors as wishful thinking (argumentum ad consequentiam), substitution of causal relationships with temporary ones (post hoc ergo propter hoc), arbitrary argument (petitio principii) and some others, are not given in these texts as ordinary atomic utterances, but get a deep narratological meaning. The author suggests to distinguish the poetics of nonsense, where each time you can find explicit or implicit references to the real world, taking point from the poetics of the absurd at Vvedensky, where, in the words of J. Druskin, “radical desubstantialization of the world” takes place.
