Indicators of economic development of macroregions of the Russian Federation at the present stage

The article presents indicators of economic development of the Russian Federation, federal districts for the period from 2020 to 2022. It was established that due to the geographical, natural, climatic, resource differentiation of the macroregions of the Russian Federation, the formation of interregional disproportions in socio-economic development is observed. Macroregions of the Russian Federation differ significantly in the scale of their contribution to the formation of the all-Russian GDP. The largest contribution to the formation of the Russian Federation’s GDP was made by the Central, Volga, Ural, Northwestern Federal Districts (the share at the end of 2022 was 35.6%, 14.3%, 13.1%, 11.5%, respectively), in total providing more than 50% of the Russian Federation’s GDP. The results of the study can be used by the state authorities of the Russian Federation, the subjects of the Russian Federation in managing spatial development. At the same time, in terms of growth dynamics, the leading positions are occupied by: Northwestern Federal District (+11.13%), Southern (+10.11%), North Caucasian (+9.63%). Also, the macro-regions whose growth rates exceed the similar all-Russian indicator include the Urals (+7.84%). In the Central, Siberian, Far Eastern, Volga macro-regions, the economic growth rates in the analyzed period were lower than the all-Russian indicator and amounted to 7.51%, 7.02%, 6.71%, 5.18%, respectively. The results of the study can be used by government bodies of the RF and the constituent entities of the RF in managing spatial development.
