Polyfunctional nature of irony speech act

The aim of this paper is to identify the multifunctional nature of an irony speech act on the commercial and non-profit (social, political) advertising discourse basis. The examination carried out gives grounds to assert that the bright emotional coloring of such speech acts is used for the explication of a number of functions, viz., attractive, persuasive, intensification of verbal behavior, indirect tactics to transfer the producer’s intention.
