Polyethnicity and problems of civil identification of the Dagestan youth

The article examines the level of civic identification of Dagestan youth in the hierarchy of social identities. Based on the 2020 survey in the Republic of Dagestan, it was found that the civic identity of Dagestan youth is significantly inferior to religious and ethnic ones. On the base of the results of sociological research, the author states that the high level of ethnic identity of young people does not weaken the position of civic identification. At the same time, clearly pronounced ethnic ties contribute to the formation of a culture of trust in persons of other ethnic groups at the level of interpersonal relations. The author makes a prognostic conclusion that with the approval of common civic values in the country, an increase in the indicators of civic identification of Dagestan youth is expected.
