Political ideology: relevance of the value approach

The article describes ideology as a political and sociocultural phenomenon. As a political phenomenon the ideology defends interests of some social groups or the society in general. At the same time the ideology holds itself out as a value system that determines the shaping of public opinion about what is fair and unfair, reasonable and unreasonable. The ideology takes active part in the socialization processes, imposing a certain value system upon a person. This fact predetermines the support of this ideology by individual or, on the contrary, discourage, which in many respects depends on compliance of the imposed value system with actual conditions of life.
