Political self-identification of youth. Concept, components and assessment

The dynamically changing global politics and the growing demand by political decision makers to identify the factors underlying the political self-identification of young people cause the relevance of the article. For example, the article presents the relationship between political identity and political attitudes, correlates the concepts of identity, identification and self-identification; it considers such factors of self-identification formation as socialization, political culture, territorial factor, social stratification and mobility, framing effect. The authors note that political self-identification is closely connected with other types of identity. As an optimal method for assessing the influence of political self-identification of young people on the nature of their political preferences and political behavior, the authors suggest a survey with elements of a projective methodology. As a result, understanding the factors discussed in the article will allow officials to approach the issue of assessing the political identity of young people more effectively, to adjust it and to prevent radicalizing trends.
