The article considers a conflict, which is the most important aspect of human interaction in the society, in this case - a social-political one. As a social and political process, political conflict is characterized by manageability, i.e. sensitivity to external organizing influence. This article is an attempt to analyze the current state, the main trends and the most probable prospects for the development of existing socio-political contradictions. The paper analyzes the fundamental possibility of transforming these contradictions from social conflicts into a large-scale political confrontation with reference to modern Russia. The author examines the specifics of the socio-political conflicts of modern Russia and points, on the one hand, to the growth of the number of protest moods, and on the other hand, to the objective absence of legitimate leaders of the protest movement. In this situation, the protest can go into an uncontrolled riot. Particularly apprehensive about this situation is the fact that, under similar factors, the political processes of recent years that were catastrophic for the national states of the North Africa and Eastern Europe were successfully launched.
