In connection with the strengthening of the information’s role nowadays PR has a growing impact of the public consciousness. PR has a long history: it was used in Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. Images of many prominent politicians were created by using PR. Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin and John Kennedy were among these politicians. The article reflects the main PR technologies and models according which the system of public relations operates, analyses examples of successful and unsuccessful use of PR in politics. Such an important aspect as an activity of PR managers is also affected in the article. The important fact is that PR managers are capable to generate the desired image of the candidate and bring him to the victory at the presidential elections by skillful using of political technologies. The article also deals with the principles of the political campaigns necessary for building a right PR strategy. In conclusion it is said about the relationship between theory and experience in the area of PR and the future prospects for the development of the public relations as a science.
