Political and cultural delimitation of the near-border regions of Russia and Ukraine in estimates by the expert community

The problem of political and cultural delimitation of the near-border regions of Russia and Ukraine is considered, which is interpreted as a process of identifying and delineating statuses of the neighboring geopolitical entities, when settled ideas about the specifics of the political and cultural systems in the neighbouring countries are formed and distributed among the population. On the basis of the expert survey results, a conclusion of the confrontational nature of delimitation is drawn due to tactical interests of the both parties, which increasingly finds reinforcement in cultural and civilizational trends of the modern times.
