The article analyzes the development of SMEs as one of the priority areas of the domestic policy of the Russian Federation. The authors note that over the past five years, business conditions in Russia have improved significantly, as evidenced by the results of the Doing Business rating prepared by the World Bank. However, events such as the pandemic and anti-Russian sanctions have acted as a serious test for domestic entrepreneurs. The article examines the main problems faced by SMEs under sanctions pressure, describes anti-crisis measures to support entrepreneurs, and also draws a conclusion about the general dynamics of the SME sector in Russia.
