The concept and features of modern russian criminal legal science

At the beginning of this article, it is said about the lack of knowledge of modern Russian criminal law science as a holistic phenomenon. The content of the concept of “modern Russian criminal law science” is analyzed by considering the meaning of the terms denoting this concept. It is determined what should be understood as modern and what is under the Russian science of criminal law. The most important features of modern Russian criminal law science are highlighted. In accordance with them, it should be understood as a humanitarian, socio-legal branch of scientific knowledge of the criminal cycle, which has both a fundamental and an applied character, aimed at ensuring humanistic ideals and is a collection of criminal law information objectified in various forms, currently not having a strictly defined system. The indicators of the development of modern Russian science of criminal law are listed. Its contradictory state is noted, which has a number of significant problematic points. Among the features of modern Russian criminal law science are: 1) uneven distribution of scientific attention on various criminal law issues; 2) the nature of criminal law researches, open for acquaintance to an unlimited circle of persons; 3) the presence of low authority in criminal law science; 4) the rapidly ongoing process of digitalization of modern Russian criminal law science; 5) combining criminal law research with other branches of scientific knowledge when studying the problems of combating crime; 6) erasing the boundaries between different criminal law schools and areas of criminal law thought.
