In the article the author analyzes, specifies, develops, deepens the regulations on the concept of functions of law, functions of the branches, institutions, norms of law and more. The greatest attention is paid to the issue of the concept and features of functions of law. There is denoted a new approach to the issue as well as there is deepened substantiation of differentiation of functions of law on the core (actually legal) - regulatory and protective, on social-economic, political and ideological.
