The article is devoted to the topical issue of today, the digitalization of transport and logistics processes. The analysis showed that the development of digitalization in the Russian Federation was significantly influenced by environmental factors - this is an increase in the number of counterparties, an increase in economic growth rates, an increase in the standard of living of the population, and the development of technologies. This step-by-step process was accompanied by state tools that help to introduce modern information technologies into the production process of the transport industry. Using the potential benefits, transport companies are successfully implementing digital technologies and creating a digital environment that allows them to quickly respond to the challenges of the external environment, thereby reducing logistics costs. The digitalization of operational and contractual processes in the transport sector contributes to the functioning of the logistics process according to the “7R” rule, which ultimately leads to the transformation of business functioning, ensured by the adoption of digital technologies. The authors of the article consider some theoretical issues related to the problem of understanding the role and place of digitalization in logistics, which ultimately leads to a paradigm shift in logistics at the present development stage. The authors trace the formation of digital logistics and reveal the impact of digitalisation on the development of the transport and logistics services market. The advantages and disadvantages of digitalization are highlighted. The study focuses on the main areas for a significant breakthrough, offers tools and possible options for the industry’s development.
