The concept of authenticity in the context of the preservation of cultural heritage

The purpose of this work is an attempt to eliminate the discrepancies in the concept of authenticity, its concretization in relation to the tasks of preserving the archaeological heritage. The methodological basis of the research is the analysis of existing documents regulating relations in the field of preservation and restoration of heritage, as well as problematic publications on this topic. This allowed us to conclude that authenticity is an objective property of any archaeological object and an indicator of its existence. Using this concept in solving the problems of preserving the national heritage, it will be possible to clearly establish the boundaries of restoration interventions and prevent the transformation of genuine monuments of history and culture into fictitious ones.
