The concept of victim and witness in criminal law

Purpose: To reveal and define the concepts of a victim and a witness in criminal law. Methodology: Historical and legal, formal legal methods were used in the research process. Results: On the basis of the conducted research, it is proposed to legislate the terms «witness» and «victim» in criminal law. Novelty/originality/value: On the basis of legislation, practical and theoretical aspects, the concepts of victim and witness in criminal law are disclosed and defined. Since the analysis of these concepts is hampered by the absence of their definitions in the criminal law, the work becomes especially relevant.
