Ethnolinguistics is a discipline that studies a people’s worldview, values, and social relations through linguistic units. From this perspective, the concept of family in English ethnolinguistics deserves particular attention not only as a lexical item but also as a linguo-cultural phenomenon. The interaction between language and culture generates semantic extensions, metaphorical expressions, new family models, and related transformations, raising important questions about how this concept is represented in the linguistic system. This article analyzes the formation and development of the family concept in English, its role in culture and society, contemporary trends, and the ways in which it is reflected in linguistic units.
