The concept, current state and structure of migrant crime in modern Russia

Introduction: the article examines the concept of migration crime, its correlation with the crime of foreign citizens and stateless persons and also provides relevant analytical data on the state, nature and structure of migrant crime. Materials and Methods: statistical, comparative, logical and sociological research methods were used. In order to ensure the objectivity, we used federal statistical data from 2016 to 2020. Results: we analyzed the doctrinal interpretations of the terms “crime of foreigners”, “crime of migrants”, etc., revealed the author's understanding of the term “migration crime”, provided new statistical information on the scale of its spread, and identified the most typical crimes for migrants. Discussion and Сonclusions: we came to the conclusion that there is a need for a unified approach to the definition of the crime of migrants, the use of a restrictive interpretation of the term “migrant” in criminal law, and identified a tendency to change the nature of the crime of migrants.
