The article is devoted to the consequences of the Russian - Turkish war (1877-1878) for Kurdistan. The war aggravated already tight situation for the Kurd people and expedited growth of the liberation movement against Ottoman and Persian oppression. The struggle was headed by the authoritative leader Sheikh Obeydulla, who put his hopes on Russia. However, due to some objective reasons the rebellion suffered a defeat.
