Postoperative cognitive dysfunction

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction is a very relevant topic of modern anesthesiology and resuscitation, and in particular cardioanesthesiology and cardioreanimatology after cardiac surgery. This article defines and clarifies this topic and explains the causal relationships of general anesthesia in the development of cognitive dysfunction in the postoperative period.
