Postural features of respiratory reaction to additional resistance

Young men were tested on the reactions of thoracic and abdominal components of respiratory system on additional inspiratory-expiratory resistance caused by body position in area (standing and lying on your back). The compensatory reaction to additional resistance – increasing of the deep of breathing in the background decrease the frequency, independently of body position of the subjects, is caused by thoracic component of the respiratory system. Original contributions in respiratory volume, which correspond to each body position, during breathing with an additional resistance does not change. Possible mechanisms discussed.
