The potential of digital ruble for cross-border cooperation between the BRICS countries

The article is devoted to the possibilities and challenges of using the digital ruble for cross-border interaction of countries in conditions of geopolitical uncertainty. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the evolution of the digital ruble project, as well as the specifics of its implementation model. The author explores the potential of using the Russian digital currency in the BRICS space. The stages of formation, the goals of the projects and the results of testing the national digital currencies of China, India, Brazil, South Africa and Russia are studied. The study showed that the BRICS countries, being at different stages of developing and implementing national digital currency projects, have the opportunity to use innovative infrastructure and new technologies in cooperation to increase the efficiency of cross-border settlements and attract investment. A key factor in successful cross-country cooperation for the use of digital currencies of central banks is the existence of political agreements between countries.
