This article considers such type of defensive structure as a ostrog, its significance and role in the development of Siberian territories in the 16th - 18th centuries. From the past, the author turns to the present, describes the situation of the Novosibirsk region's ostrog in the tourist sphere: their current problems and possible prospects.
