Foodstuffs consumption in the region and its financial provision

The article deals with the analysis of the dynamics in foodstuffs consumption by different groups of the population in 2008 - 2010 as compared to the norms of rational consumption in the case of the Vologda Oblast. There is a calculation of the minimum income that provides foodstuff consumption at the level of rational norms. The analysis of the consumer inflation's influence over the people with different incomes has shown that low-income groups are the most exposed to the rise in prices. There is a general conclusion at the end of this article that it is impossible to overcome the current situation without reducing of socio-economic inequality.
