Instructive lesson of results of reed thickets operation in the Volga river delta

The history of economic use of reed thickets in the Volga river delta is viewed. It is shown that annual removal from natural phytocoenoses of large organic substance mass in combination with of harvest machinery and pasturing of cattle grazing effect has resulted in reed raw stock reduction and reed thickets degradation.
