Turn to the east: prospects for the development of Russian-Chinese relations in the views of young people

For three decades, the Russian Federation has been economically, politically, and morally linked to Western countries, most of them from the European Union. In recent years, relations with the countries of the collective West have gradually deteriorated due to increasing sanctions and political pressure on the Russian Federation, which has served to promote the idea of turning to the East among the ruling elites of our country. Expectations from the strategic partnership between Russia and China are very high and significant for both sides in the current tense geopolitical situation in the international arena, both at the global and local levels. The aim of the article is to study the development of Chinese-Russian political relations in the views of the youth through sociological analysis. There is support among Russians and among the youth for the eastern direction of Russia's foreign policy, while some of the respondents are afraid of Russia's economic dependence on China. Nevertheless, it remains obvious that strengthening partnership relations with the countries of the East makes it possible to create favorable conditions for Russia in the global economy and politics.
