The issues of obtaining hydrogen-containing synthesis gas in compact on-board catalytic generators and its use as an additive to the main motor fuel (natural gas) of internal combustion engines are considered. New principles for organizing the working process of a gas-diesel engine with mixed quantitative and qualitative power control and the use of synthesis gas as a fuel additive that initiates efficient ignition in all engine operating modes, including low and medium loads, are proposed. The possibility of reducing the emission of harmful emissions and the operating fuel consumption of motor vehicles to the values prescribed by the current regulatory documents by using fuel compositions containing additives of hydrogen-enriched synthesis gas is shown.
