This paper examines the food security program of the Russian Federation. The relevance of the topic is due to the fact that in the context of globalization and instability of the world food market, strategic planning and effective management in this area become the main tasks of the state. The purpose of this study is to study the level of food security in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation and develop recommendations for increasing it. One of the tools that can be used to solve the problem of providing the population with quality food is program support for the development of food security. The basis of the research was general scientific methods of cognition, using logical, statistical and comparative analysis, which are aimed at the most objective and comprehensive study of the problem. Analysis of the program made it possible to evaluate its effectiveness, identify shortcomings in its implementation and conduct a comparative description of the subjects of the Central Federal District. The work analyzes the key factors that influence the level of food security in the constituent entities of the Central Federal District. At the end of the study, recommendations were developed to improve the level of food security in lagging regions. The results of the study provide the opportunity to make economically sound decisions on the factors that determine the level of food security of the subjects of the Central Federal District.
