The land arrangement of workers of the Izhevsk weapons and metallurgical factories in the XIX century

The author analyzed a land arrangement of artisans and auxiliary workers (are two main categories of workers) of the Izhevsk weapons and metallurgical factories in the Vyatka province. Worker rights to land, types of land holdings, size and quality of given lots were studied. The artisans used manors and hayfields, auxiliary workers with agricultural skills received additional arable land; pastures and forests were in the factory district. Workers have the extra income to the family budget due to the presence of land: artisans and auxiliary workers grown vegetables, breeding livestock and poultry. The factory administration to dispose of land, but the workers were subject to factory and, therefore, had the right to inherit, to exchange, to buy and to sell the estate. Particular attention was paid to changes in land tenure rights in the post-reform period: workers received the estate in the property after the abolition of serfdom, arable land and hayfields were taxed. Despite the difficulties of implementation the new land arrangement the reforms have further catalyst for many qualitative changes that have occurred in the industrial center in the period of capitalism
