Fire safety in Tomsk city in 1913 (based on the report of the Tomsk city fire brigade)

Fire safety is an extremely important issue of life in any settlement at all times. Transformations in all spheres of life of the Russian society in the late XIX - and in particular in the early XX centuries determined adjustments of the organization of the fire safety. These issues were of high relevance in large cities, where construction of residential quarters coexisted with developing industrial enterprises. The article deals with the condition and adequacy of the fire brigade existed in Tomsk in 1913. The author assesses professional competence of employees, fire-fighting facilities, studies other aspects related to the fire fighting.
