Political modernization of the former soviet union states: comparative experience of Kazakhstan and Belarus

The article proves that political modernization in the former Soviet Union has an East European (Belarus) and a Central Asian (Kazakhstan) vectors. The authors believe that the political modernization is of a wave-like character manifested itself in alternation of the stage of political system's active modernization and the stage of delay or shutdown of modernization transformations caused by the growth of destabilizing tendencies.
