The subject of the study is the relations between military personnel in the military environment, which are either not regulated by legal norms, or go against their requirements. Using typical and fairly common examples of military life, the author illustrates the contradiction between the norms of law and traditional informal rules of conduct for military personnel. The purpose of the article is to identify those areas of life of military personnel in which informal rules of behavior are most often applied, as well as to establish the reasons and conditions for their prevalence. Using the method of complex analysis of legal norms of various normative legal acts and their application in relation to the organization of mutual relations between military personnel, the author also tries to identify those aspects of public life that, due to the increased dependence of a subordinate military officer on his boss, were less socially protected and implemented. By analyzing the legislation, the author shows the internal defects of legal norms in this sphere of relations. The article will be of interest to lawyers, sociologists, specialists in the field of management and military science who study relationships in the military environment. The results of this work allow us to conclude that informal relationships are widely spread in the military environment and their impact on the effectiveness of the leadership of military formations. According to the author, the identified gaps and defects in legal regulation will allow the legislator and the heads of military departments to improve the law and order in the subordinate troops and forces.
