The author forms a new direction of scientific search - the social media law. Social networks, which have become a full-fledged trade and economic platform, still exist in a self-regulation framework that is insufficient to adequately ensure of the rights and legitimate interests of users and owners of social networks. The unsuccessful attempts of the Russian legislator to control the sphere of social networks are due to the lack of systematics in approaches to regulating the relations arising in them. While focusing on combating the spread of illegal content, privatelaw problems remain: identification of subjects, consumer protection, peculiarities of entrepreneurial activity, inheritance, protection of intellectual rights, problems of jurisdiction and dispute resolution. The question of creating a quality legal basis for the existence of social networks remains relevant, because their impact on the economy and the law will only increase in the era of global digitalization and the pandemic crisis. The article is an extension of the author's scientific research about atypical forms of legal relations that require legislative registration.
