Justice for peasants: volost and justice courts under assessment of peasants and educated society (1870-1880)

The article analyses the process of formation of the system of legal institutions called to provide the execution of justice in the post-reformed Russian village; introduces the main problematic moments and difficulties occurred in the sphere. Much attention has been paid to cover the specific character of public perception of the main legal institutions for peasants i.e. volost and justice courts.
