Legal regulation of artificial intelligence technologies: the experience of Russia and France

Purpose: The study of the legal regulation of artificial intelligence in the Russian Federation and France and the main trends in the development of legislation on artificial intelligence, taking into account the best foreign standard-setting practice. Methodology: The authours had used historical, comparative legal and formal legal research methods. Results: The article analyzes the legal regulation of artificial intelligence in the Russian Federation and France. The authors attempted to give an overview of the main regulatory legal acts in the designated area of legal regulation adopted over the past two years (2019-2020). In addition, the article outlines trends in the development of legislation on artificial intelligence, taking into account the best foreign standard-setting practice. Novelty/originality/value: The article has a high scientific value, since it thoroughly analyzes the latest trends in the development of legislation on artificial intelligence as a fundamentally new sphere of legal regulation.
