Legal values as a factor in the progressive development of modern society: theoretical and legal aspect

Introduction. The study of the significance of the category of values from the point of view of theoretical and legal science at the present stage of development of society is a key and significant factor both in the formation and strengthening of the democratic system of the state, and in the implementation of legal regulation of public relations. Within the framework of the proposed topic, the category of values in its relationship with morality and law is subject to study, and the task is to determine and establish the significance of legal values as a legal category in the context of progressive development of modern society, taking into account the political and legal changes in the state. Materials and methods. This study is based on the use of a set of general scientific and specific scientific methods of cognition corresponding to the theoretical and legal nature of the work. The material base includes the works of domestic and foreign legal scholars in the field of the theory of state and law, philosophy of law, as well as regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation regulating issues of legal values and legal policy. The results of the Study made it possible to formulate a set of approaches to understanding legal values that reveal: the significance of the category of legal values at the current stage of state and legal construction; the relationship of moral, socio-cultural and legal values in theoretical and legal reality; the role of moral and legal values in legal regulation. Findings and Conclusions. The process of historical formation of moral guidelines in public life, which were based on the philosophical and religious approach, predetermined the creation of a system of legal values. Legal values, being a fundamental principle of the implementation of legal regulation of modern society, serve as a guide in the process of law-making activity, in particular when determining the goal-setting of a legal norm.
