Legal judgments about objective truth in criminal proceedings

The article deals with the topical issue that is currently given to the whole Russian legal community by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation to consider the draft Federal law “On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation in connection with the introduction of the institution establishing the objective truth in the criminal case". This article discusses: the objective truth concept, opinions of scholars and practitioners denying the need for the adoption of the law, the negative consequences of the law approval and introduction to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. The author criticizes the draft bill and makes reasonable suggestion to deny its approval.
