Perspection about myself and relations with the mother of younger teenagers with oncological diseases

The article is devoted to the consideration of the characteristics of self-image in younger adolescents suffering from cancer. The results of an empirical study conducted on the basis of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Russian Cancer Research Center named after N.N. Blokhina”, in which it is shown that adolescents suffering from oncological diseases more often associate their image with the disease, present themselves as more vulnerable, vulnerable, more often attribute negative characteristics to themselves. The relationship between the mother’s attitude to the illness of the child and the teenager’s self-image was revealed. The material obtained in the study supplements the ideas about the developmental features of children with severe somatic diseases, the social situation of the development of a child with cancer and allows more accurately identify the targets of psychological work with families of children being treated, in order to harmonize their emotional state, the formation of coping mechanisms with the disease.
